Grown in the Eastern Province, South Imenti District in Mikumbune location of Nkuene Division near Nkuba town. Established in 1970 the Mikumbune Farm Co op consists of 520 members, 400 of which are active. The 5 acre piece of land is shared by 3 villages; Rugenju, Ntimetekia and Kumbuku. Uniquely this area is situated within tea growing zones.
Harvest ~ Biennial production. Early harvest May – June. Late harvest second season November – December
Processing ~ Wet processing method, water is pumped to reservoir tanks for pulping and recirculation from River Katharu. The coffee after pulping is stored overnight, washed, soaked and spread onto drying tables. Then the parchment is frequently turned on the drying tables, sorted and stored. The recirculation system, pulper and use of conditioning bins ensure the processing is efficient.
